Relational Intelligence Workshop: October 16 – In person

This event is full. If you would like to join the Wait List, please contact Beth. Or you can register for the next one on Thursday, December 18th

In a world that presses us to move fast and isolate from each other, this workshop is about how to slow down, connect, and discover powerful ways that a group can think well together.

Like this sculpture, the world offers far more than Either/Or choices, yet we need more people to help us wrestle with our narrow perspective and see the new doors opening with the current ones are closing. Getting to the depths is where we have a chance of uprooting the patterns that keep us stuck and find the wisest creative responses.

Instead of artificial intelligence, we can tap relational intelligence – the ability of a group of people to listen and connect their different perspectives to generate something ‘emergent’ and new from the combination. With the right conditions, a group can hold levels of complexity that might overwhelm an individual trying to cope alone.

“Human interaction is the key force in overcoming resistance and speeding change.” – Atul Guwande

In this workshop, you’ll learn group listening and peer support practices that open up space for expression. People bring a current challenge or threshold they’re dealing with and practice a variety of approaches to gain new clarity on the situation. You’ll learn:

  • The art of resonant listening – specific ways to listen so that people feel deeply heard, supported, and they unravel the nuances of a situation
  • Practical tools for peer support to work within complexity and see fresh possibilities
  • A process called constellations that helps us see the larger web of relationships in a situation in a way that can unlock stuck patterns and reveal wise paths forward

This workshop is for:

Social changemakers, facilitators, business and non-profit leaders, community builders, and artists who want to enhance how they work with people and groups to activate the best thinking and forward movement.

The workshop is facilitated by Beth Tener and is held at Green Acre in Eliot, Maine. Green Acre was founded in 1894 and has hosted conferences and gatherings for over 100 years on subjects related to unity, social action, and building community.

This workshop continues the spirit of the SeaCHANGE Conference, a participatory conference, which weaves conversations, community, and creativity to explore timely questions.

Quotes from Previous Participants

“I continue to process the time we had together – which had a fairly profound and deeply grounding impact on how I was thinking about my next professional step. The path became much clearer in the 24 hours after our gathering.”

“The resonant listening practice is such an important skill that you can take into any part of your life – in work, personal relationships, and with yourself.”

“The constellation experience was really helpful. It was a different pathway to get answers. A room full of people could sense things in a way the person alone couldn’t.”
